Drift – Between the visible and the invisible. The language of the surface.

Like all non-objective works of art, an interpretation of what is seen is a task for the viewer. An explanation and interpretation only emerges in the eye of the individual and is shaped by personal perception, experience and mood. Instead of clearly defined statements, the work offers starting points for individual associations, so that each viewer can find their own subjective meaning in it.

Trivia
The artwork and abstract-expressive painting consists of predominantly dark colors, especially black and blue. The surface has an interesting texture created by clear scratching and sanding marks, which gives the painting a dynamic, almost stormy effect. These traces bring out the lower layers of paint and make the color appear lighter in certain areas. The horizontal line in the lower area could represent a symbolic boundary separating the upper and lower parts of the painting, suggesting a kind of horizon or borderline.

The combination of smooth and rough texture creates a tactile appeal that reinforces the idea of movement and materiality when viewed. The work, part of gestural abstraction, emphasizes the spontaneous painting process and the interaction with the material during the creative process.
