Ravanor

Ravanor is part of the small Sediment series. The title is free, without any explanatory reference. Wood stain, Chinese ink, and graphite form a surface that emerges during the process and remains open.

The difficulty lay in striking a balance between gesture and emptiness. The large white area was not allowed to appear passive, but had to actively participate. It was not difficult to add something, but to stop at the right time. The decisive moment was the superimposition of the two movements. It was only through this intersection that the image gained its inner tension.

This work is more reduced than many of my previous works. It thrives more on individual clear movements and less on layering.
