“Oona” is a work that arose from a moment of chance. Originally, it was just leftover paint and thoughts about what I could do with it. I added a bold orange to the remaining mixed colors. It was a spontaneous idea to create something new from it. The small painting surface seemed ideal for me to give space to this intuition. The tones blended freely and fluidly until the orange gave the picture its harmonious tension.

Without any clear intention, a shape formed on the canvas that reminded me of a bird, and even an eye formed as if by itself. To emphasize this organic impression, I framed the shapes with lines of fine, continuous black ink. The result is a work that balances between control and chance, between movement and stillness.

I had actually first thought of giving the painting the title “Phoenix.” But I deliberately rejected that idea in order to keep the space for interpretation open. Instead, the work is now called “Oona.” It’s October, and I had the idea of looking for a beautiful first name beginning with O. I chose the old Irish first name Oona, which has a soft sound and no fixed meaning.

“Oona” is a unique piece of abstract, contemporary painting that combines lightness, intuition, and beauty in the random. It is a unique work of art that leaves room for your own associations and adds a special accent to modern living or working environments.
