A new work of art – the magic of color layers
Komposition № 4-25 – I’m very excited to publish this new artwork. The painting is particularly close to my heart – not only because of the creative process, but also because of the personal journey it reflects. I have documented the creation in photos that show a few of the layers of paint and intermediate steps. They give you an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes and illustrate how lively and multi-layered this creative process was.
What is more important – the result or the creative process?
Work on this piece began last year. I experienced a mixture of intense phases full of inspiration and moments of standstill. These breaks are often essential for me – not only for the artwork, but also for my own development. After a “maturing period” in which the painting rested, I was able to continue working with renewed energy. Layer by layer, color by color, the depth and expressiveness of the work grew.
In total, the artwork comprises around 30 to 40 layers of paint.
The full effect unfolds when you view the artwork in the original. Nevertheless, I hope that the photos shown here can give you an impression of it. Each layer of paint tells a story and invites you to explore the details in more detail.
Layers of color as a mirror of my soul
For me, the layers are more than just an aesthetic element – they symbolize my personal development and healing. Working through my depression, which has accompanied and challenged me for many years, is similar to building up these layers: A slow, careful progression in which old “layers” need to be looked at, worked on or removed to make room for the new. It is a profound, sometimes painful, but necessary process.
I usually work with a reduced color palette – black and white or minimalist tones. Various works can be found in my portfolio. But in this painting, I deliberately went for an explosion of color. Sometimes you need intense shades of color to express the feelings that lie dormant deep inside you.
An invitation
The work “Composition № 4-25” invites you to awaken your imagination, open your inner eye and take your soul on a visual journey. And it wants to be explored and invites you to let it take effect on you – with all its colors, layers and facets. This work captures both the highs and the lows of my inner journey.
If you are moved by the photos, I hope that you can experience the artwork in the original at some point. Because its full depth and effect only unfolds when you stand directly in front of it.
